We're in the middle of Perikvav, Ghelechalepes, Reishlam and Gimmel. We left off, we were discussing the concept that according to the level of intellect that you have, that will determine the level of desires that you have. Kia katan Haysheik ve'ayeb dvarn kettanim pechusei ha'erlech A child desires small things that are of little value. Lefishah sichleit katan v'kotzer lahaseg dvarim yecharim yaisarmehim Because he has a small intellect, narrow intellect, lahaseg dvarim yecharim to appreciate these precious things more than these small things. So a little kid would rather play with a gameboy The Chaim is working with the kids and in the same way, a child is more likely to have a temper tantrum. V'chaim Laim. Okay, so a little child would rather play with that than play with something that's very precious. As you get older and your intellect expands, you're able to appreciate these things for you.

Ve'chaim mis koisuv mitz kasev midvarm ketanim. And in the same way, a child is more likely to have a temper tantrum. He's more likely to get upset. Because what does he really have? He really has a very narrow understanding. You ever guys ever hear that bit from Charlie Harari? But the most powerful thing in the world is a three year old. He said, the mother is in the supermarket and she makes a turn. She goes into the cookie aisle and the child looks up at the mother in wonder. Like, look what we just discovered. It's all the cookies. Right? And then the mother starts to negotiate. She says, now you had a cookie before you came to the store and if you behave nicely you'll get a cookie at the end of our shopping. And what does the little kid look at the mother and say? Really? You want to do this in public? No, and the kid starts to scream and starts to wail.

Read the full transcript

And before you know it, the kid's got a cookie in his hand and a cookie in his other hand and a cookie in his mouth just because the mother is so embarrassed. It's the most powerful thing in the world. No mother wants to be that mother in Gourmet Galat. That's got like a screaming temper tantrum child. And every other mother in there judging going like, if only they could take care of their children, right? You never want to be that person. Why is the little kid screaming over a cookie? So the extent of your intellect is like, the level of depth? Exactly correct. Exactly correct. And he says, Bechaim B'esparah is also a little child, but it's also a little child.

I see guys sitting there going like this all day. There's something exceptionally childish about that. Again, I'm not talking about looking neat and looking presentable. There's something childish about being so overly concerned with the way that you look. It's like, that's not so everyone is a child. It might be more appropriate for them. But yeah, I would say that a woman who's obsessed with her beauty is acting inappropriately. That a 16 year old should sit and have these conversations. I understand that a 16 year old today is at the level of maturity where what they wear is of paramount importance. Right? But if you had a 40 year old

What was that? He's a real Jew. That guy is a real Jew. And you know he had a harean for breakfast and it's Wednesday. You know what I'm saying? And he had kiril. It's true. You see these 90-year-olds in the white shul, these guys go to minyan everyday and then they have slivovitz after davening. They're having vodka every single morning. You know why those guys are 90? If only we could get the Rosh Yeshiva Sheer to behave. I wonder what he said. I'm not going to lie. Anyway. Those guys, those 90 year olds in what's called, in the white shul, you know why they live to be 90? Because there's no blood in their system, that's vodka. That's vodka and kichol and herring that lines their veins. That's why the blood, just whatever little blood there is, flows through. You know what I'm talking about? You know that guy.

Hey guys, it's every day, it's every morning, it's every afternoon, it's every night. But Rebbei Tzayel, what's the point? The point is, if you're obsessed about these things, if you're overly focused on these things, it's exceptionally childish. And that's what Rebbeim really means. I don't like the Rebbeim that rip on sports because I think there's a lot of transcendent value in sports. But what they mean to say is like, how focused are you on something that's childish? How much time of your life is it taking up? So we had a guy a couple years ago, Baruch Hashem, very, very well on Mevaseret, he's an amazing, amazing guy. YaShiva when he came to Yeshiva he sat me down on the first Sunday of the football season And he said Rebbe I give you my word I am going to be at everything this year but do Not ask me about Sunday night seder because I am watching the jets game so I'm like and Like that's what he said it to me like there's no room for negotiation there's no there's No DBR embracing it and seeing it later he's like I don't care about night seder the jets And the first game comes before Nitzim. Nabbu Chashem Shannal Shabbed he did very nicely and I'm sure he's still a Jets fan but he has a much clearer priority of like value.

And neither one was watching a Jets game either, by the way. It's not what I'm saying. But when you have these guys that camp out starting from 1 o'clock in the afternoon to 10 o'clock at night and all they're doing is watching football, that's half of a day. That's 6 and a half days a week now. You're down to 6 and a half for football. That's already a bit much. You know what I'm saying? Red Zone Shmuz. You know that I got in big trouble for making fun of TABC? A couple years ago, a couple years ago, on NCSY COVID, I went on a rant. And it was taped, it could be that you were there. And it was taped. And the clip, which was totally taken out of context, was just a small splice of a much larger shear which made it sound much worse than it actually was. What was this clip? The clip was that I said I had gone to a TABC

TBC hockey game, okay? And it was a big game. May have even been TBC fresh. And I got there early in the game. I'm hanging out with some of my friends that are obeying there in TBC. And you have all these guys in what they call the Pikachu Pit. You guys holding in the Pikachu Pit? Okay. Behind the goals, they all like, there's like a pit. And they all like... It's a Dimash Pit but for an hour and a half long with hockey in front of you. Flying Pucks as All of a sudden, one kid gets up on another kid's shoulders and starts going, ahhhh yah yah yah yah yah yah yah And then everyone in the Pikachu pit goes together with him, only in the Pikachu pit. Aye, aye, yai Aye, aye, yai

Let's go storm! And they all just started moshbiting going crazy and it was like and then they dropped the puck they dropped the puck No exaggeration TBC scored within 10 seconds and these lunatic people in the Pikachu pit Stormed the court they stormed where they knocked over all the borders and they storm where they're going crazy And it's like it's like all hell broke loose and I was like what is going on here? This is Yashivalik floor hockey Haki. This isn't even hockey. This is Yeshivali Flori. Isn't it even Floraaki? It's Yeshivali-Kinted in basketball. No, I understand that. That's what we used to say in high school. Basketball takes skill but like Floraaki is this question of hustle. That's why we're always good to Floraaki because it's just a question of heart and desire. It's not a question of like how good you actually are. I'm not saying I'm just saying. You know what I'm talking about.

So I gave the shoes in NCSY Kollow. I was saying not that it's bad to have school Chasvashal and I wasn't ripping on T.A.B.C. I was saying that halavay we would be as passionate about Baruch Hu on Rashi Shannah as we are about T.A.B.C. Haki, but that all got spliced out. So it just sounded like me ripping on T.A.B.C. and it got sent to all the T.A.B.C. Rebbeim and it got sent to my Adler and it got sent to Mr. P. and all of a sudden it was like, you know, Burg is a menalv mavaser and he's ripping on T.A.B.C. I'm like, I am not ripping on T.A.B.C. Anastasia, I'm ripping on all of us. We have our minds in these lunatic things. What are we focused on? That's what the author of this saying. He's like, it's ma'am Mishibachinah of Katnissada'as. It's just like, it's very, very small narrow-minded thinking. Yeah.

Actually about that, you said that you were castling the bar of chul, and previously you have been castling bar of chul for bar of chul. Okay. So this year we got to bar of chul. I was saying, I always said. You always said, let's go storm? Yeah. That's crazy. Roshyvah did that on Roshyvah? We should get Rav Nachitah to do it. Let's go. I got the wrong person. I consider myself to be here. I understand. You already have to be here. All of a sudden he's from MTSY. But he... And Label's never been so proud to be in Heithel before, you know? I'm feeling your choice, huh? We don't have to say. We don't have to say. We don't have to say. Okay. By the way, if you want to let Reversal know that I just gave that shmuzbah florahaki, please feel free. Now, v'eser bechinas eilos atmayos kesha'odum mechashiv behen omedabere oosor. Now, when you're using your nefash habahamas, okay, pleasure for the sake of pleasure, and you're engaging in that which is tummy, whether it's on a level of mechashiv, thoa, meedabere, speech, oosor, action, those are the three levushim of the Nefesh Shabbat, haremach shavtos shev emocho ve deburosh, ve'piv, ve'kor ha'maisei shabiyadov The intelligence that's in your mind and the debur, the speech that's in your mouth and the power of action that is in your hands, Usharivarv and in the rest of your limbs.

Nechrodim Levushe Mas'avo, they are now Tame Levushe, meaning you've taken that which had the capacity to be kadosh and you've used it in a Tame way. L'asu bechina sehlei lat meiros, in these chassid gurut v'et v'est, but you convoluted them. Shemis labeshas behen, b'chass maiso dibir amar shavo. In other words, at the moment of thought, at the moment of speech, and at the moment of action, what happens? You are like a blank slate, right? And so, okay, what is your stance right now? So if you've gone ahead and you've used your makshavo, meaning, I say like this, If you've gone ahead and an efeshuv el kis is in control of your makshava, then in those moments what is the levush of your makshava? The levush of your makshava is godly. But if you go ahead and you use, very hot on you, right? Can you open the, I would say to open the door but then we can hear the roshashavah.

Yeah, but since we are in the entire time. We'll see, it'll be the same, there's not one on the air conditioner. If you go ahead and you use your nefeshah bahammis, then in those moments what's the levush of your makshava? It's going to be levusham temayim. When I say M'chshavah I mean the mind, not the mind in action, that would be the Levush. My mind is like open, if I have thoughts, that's the M'chshavah of Levush, if I have thoughts that are godly, then my mind is clothed in godliness. If I use them for Nefeshe Bahamis then my mind is clothed in Levushim Tameyim. Are they trying to use tummy things? They are tummy things. Meaning like inappropriate, like we spoke about, inappropriate G-S-E-D, inappropriate G-vura. They're naturally inappropriate. What effect does it have on thoughts?

We're gonna discuss. We're gonna discuss. We're gonna get to that What exactly is the nature of Tameh and what exactly is the nature of Kadosh and then what's that middle? We're gonna discuss. I want to go to the beach. Saying that isn't necessarily bad. It's not necessarily good. We'll discuss. We'll discuss John Before you take action. There's like a second where you're either never smiling or having a show that has to be over. Mm-hmm. That's exactly right. That's right. In other words, there is no middle ground in the Arthur Rebbe's world. You have two, not inclinations... You have two personalities. That's who you are. One is godly and one is animalistic. The animal is sowing inside of the person when it takes over and it takes over. Toviyel! How can the between ourselves, Kabbalah and Taz, be taught? Those seem to be you. Why you can't choose your mind inappropriately?

It's about the idea of something travels through, something travels through, and it travels through Kabbalah and Taz. There's no such thing as inappropriate ideas? One could argue anything that's that total appropriate. Well, the author of this is going to have a whole chapter in Tanya about exactly what is the nature of What is the nature of appropriate and inappropriate things to learn? We'll see. Rafi. He said before that God-Jews have the same habahamas. And they don't have the same nefeshah bahamas that a Jew has. Because it doesn't have the potential to be. Because they have, right, it's Shlosh Kripos atmeyos. What is it coming from for najus who are religious? It's very religious. No, no. We're talking about maturity of thought. When we say chahmah beaten past, we're speaking about three levels of understanding. Here we're just speaking about a maturity of thought. A little child has a very diminished maturity of thought, and therefore they can't appreciate higher-order things.

So a tremendous sum of Chavvom would have a higher or more... A greater appreciation of what? Of the actual role of things in this world. So when Rav al yash of zechatzad gavrakal, when Rav chaim kaniyeskim, and Rav aaron leb shtaim, Chazach Zagat Gavrakah lived in very very small apartments that weren't really very impressive on a physical level We would look at those apartments and say I could never live that lifestyle. We would be correct I could certainly not live that lifestyle however because of the nature of who they were and the gigantic scope of their intellect their appreciation for the physical world was appropriately placed and so for them the notion of spending time and money Shabbat Tov shabbat Tov Tov Tov Tov There's an amazing story there of Arunabh Steinman's wife said that she had an appreciation for having finer things.

But she didn't, even though she was offered many times, she didn't bring them into her home because she knew that her husband wanted a life of appreciation. I can't imagine what that was like for her. She said she would go to people's homes. Oh, that's very good. The bottles help a lot. She said that she would go to people's homes and she would appreciate it like they got a new fridge, they got this, they got that. Vanle was like, Mamish not... He was very much in this world, very present, very focused on what people needed but he was not consumed with any level of physicality. You said about the final day of strategy that you had one Sharon for like 15 years. Yeah, like a small student. Yeah. They, the, I don't believe the story that I'm about to tell you, but like they say they don't tell these stories about you and me.

There's an amazing Mysore with a round labe that the first time he went in a car, somebody drove him to the airport and he, just put it on, just put it on. It makes a difference, it makes a difference. Every little bit of light makes a difference. A small amount of light that spells a lot of darkness. They say that the driver had a stick shift car and so Avonleb was sitting in the front and the driver was driving and the guys, you know, constantly jerking the stick shift back and forth. So Avonleb said to him, again, I don't believe this story, but I'm sorry about the darkness, but it's a false alarm here at the reserve building. Okay, well we weren't gonna leave anyway because the power of tire was for sure gonna protect us. I was just wondering whether you can hear that from you or The T River from the Talmidim. The Talmidim are more tseniyas. They think it but they don't say it. I am in here just because I wanted that prison. Thank you. A small amount of light dispels a lot of darkness for Arnold. I'm just surprised you have to let phon to the

Rebbe Nachman Nonsense. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Very much. A greater event was for your child, you wouldn't necessarily focus on these small things. Thank you. Would it be the way you said it would be successful? Here, these are Isaac Catroni, you know, the parents of Abraham. These ten bad beatos are generally calling you towards these things. Exactly right. So you can develop your state level, after you have these ten. It's great because you actually have to take that and really care about these child or things.

When the Nefeshelot kiss is in charge of these things then it has a more godly expansive vision. The intellect of the Nefeshelot Bahamas is going to be by its definition impoverished because it's concerned about what's called it's concerned about survival. The Godly Intellect Meaning the Nefesha Bahamiz's Intellect has a certain limitation to it because it's by definition going to be focused on survival. That's what it will be. Which is why even though you may mature and you may get older and now instead of wanting to play with a Barbie doll, The Neffeshe Bahamis, 25 year old Neffeshe Bahamis, always going to be focused on those things that are survival oriented. It's just that at 25 years old, because it will have been more mature, it will want more.

wine Yes. So, how could be that it's up for grabs? Meaning you don't have to engage in the sechl of the Nefesha Bahamis. You can engage in the sechl of the Nefesha, Nefesha Lekes. In that regard your sechl is panurly. I thought we said that even within the Nefesha Lekesuva, each one is part of the Nefesha, each has the whole 10 meg areas. Right. So here we are speaking specifically about the sechl. But, but is that the each have the whole set of 10 meters? Yes. So how could be that it is up for grabs? Meaning you don't have to engage in the Sechl of the Nefesha Bahamas. You can engage in the Sechl of the Nefesha, Nefesha Lekes. In that regard your sechl is panurly. What was that? It was an answer. I don't understand that. Want to try again? So the same level of Nefesh Bahamut is stuck with Nefesh Bahamut?

I think you're misunderstanding a basic concept. You are a bifurcated reality. You have both a Nefesh of Bahamut and a Nefesh of Lukis. Both the Nefesh of the Bahamut and the Nefesh of Lukis have a Nefesheh Mahamiz And you go? But not into something fundamentally different than it is. So at five years old, Anish Chaba'am has wants to play with Lego and at 25 years old, it wants to play with a car. But it's fundamentally the same but in a grown way. Ezra. Is it saying that knowledge comes from one of the nishavos? Not knowledge, the capacity for wisdom. It's not information that comes from Heiil is the capacity to contain that wisdom, to experience that wisdom, to learn that wisdom. You are not looking inside of your soul for the answer to the one plus one, if that is what you were asking. Right, that is not what it is.

Are there two different types of intellects? Is there one for the Nefeshe Nefesheh Muhammad is capable of complex thought, just not expansive complex thought. In other words, the Nefesheh Muhammad's let's say would be obsessed with the complexity potentially. I'm giving an example. Let's say the Nefesheh Muhammad's was obsessed with the complexity of the human body. It's going to be doing amazing calculations in order to understand the complexity of the human body. But fundamentally it would say some of the most complex thought is the Nefesheh Muhammad's. Lisanu Am I the other one? Now we're not born with inclinations. We were born with inclinations. It's a personality. Yeats seriously. You're not unbalanced? I'm exceptional. I'm not. You can quote me on that.

Can I just commit to my question real quick? Just that. No, just that. Just that. If I have, okay, so if I have- So you've got my back. Take that around and do it. If I have this thought, if I have this thought, I don't wanna, I'm scared of death, right? You're scared of death. Then Yisrael Hamz is terrified of death. Okay, but an Aboriginal kiss can also be terrified of death in the sense that- Wait, can I just finish my thought? Oh my goodness. I'm just saying, okay, so so that's what gets the attention. I need it. Okay? Um, I'm just saying that okay, so but I'm saying I can look at it two ways meaning my nephew will kiss will get me into the beis medrash learning the Ramban about you Know about what happens after I die. So I'm not scared right versus my nephew my my my my Evil soul for you say it again would be like Nefeshe Bahamis would be like, oh, let's just go out like drinking and partying so we can forget about death.

Right? So like what's what like fundamentally they're both worried about the same thing, but we deal it into divorce. Your Nefeshe Bahamis would learn the Ramban about all Mahbas that would be afraid about death. Nefeshe Shabbat kiss is not concerned with these things at all. Nefeshe Kiss isn't valued in death because it's like, what are you talking about death? I was here before the body and I'll be here after the body. So when the Nefshil Kiz learns that Ramban, I'm sure you can. When the Nefshil Kiz learns that Ramban is not above, it's not as an avoidance of death, it's as a function of connection. You set up the question in a way that you made them both focused on death. That's why I said to you, the Nefshil Kiz is not focused on death. It doesn't even think about it. So every single time I ever think about death, it's my definition. It's not my definition yet. When we speak about the consciousness of death, that is my definition of Nefshil Vamos, yes.

Leibov Two questions. First of all, somebody who says they're learning Torah for intellectual stimulation, that's Nefeshev Amos. We're going, yes, that is definitely Nefeshev Amos and Nauthera is going to discuss the dangers of learning Torah intellectually. And dangerous. Number two is, is the Nefeshev Amos worried about death because it's not going to, it doesn't survive after death? That's exactly right. From dust you come, and to dust you return. Mevaseram Tzurzis from the dust It is that which animates the dust, and as soon as the dust is not animated, it ceases to exist. Tovya? So isn't that the limitation that you mentioned of the limitation that you can appreciate something in the world of transcendence? The foundation of the sachil of the Nev Shabbat, this is that it is a finite consciousness. What that also suggests is that you can't appreciate fully, maybe upon like a superficial level, you can't truly appreciate something in the world of transcendence.

Yeah, because it doesn't even value transcendence, the Nev Shabbat is. It only values its own narcissistic tendencies. So when the Nev Shabbat speaks about, for example, love, the Nev Shabbat talks about what it's receiving from love. Tazotzeh hait wasn't, just because it was a valid experience of imitation. But isn't that as limited in the sense that you can't appreciate anything? Yeah, it doesn't resonate with it. It's a weak trip for transcendence. I only know the known. But if you say it doesn't resonate, it doesn't feel as action. Even the Neffshah Muhammad would say something like, I enjoy the transcendent relationship I have with my wife because of what it does for me. Nefesel Lekes might say, I enjoy the nature of the transcendent relationship because it is a function of my essence. So it can't fully appreciate something else? That's correct. We rolling on time.

5.05. OK Rabos, let's do the bottom. OK. Let's do perek vav, kalek Beis. And then we're going to end a little bit early today because we have a tremendous headache, This is very much what you guys were asking about, so now it's time to do this. The outer Rebbe says this applies to every single action under the sun. Ashak Ahakol Hevel Uru Uzzruach Chomoshakassim bizor bishalach sheintevir derucha broken spirit ve'chayn kaladiburim ve'chalamach Shavos asher loyla Hashem ha'imah uleh yitzayne lava daseh When we speak about all actions under the sun that are for the sake of nothingness, just actions for the sake of actions, but they're not actions for the sake of purpose. And when we speak about thoughts and speech that are not for the sake of God, okay, and not according to His will, and not to serve Him. Shazahu perech lashan citra'achra This is really what it means when we say citra'achra Remember we put that on the board a couple of days ago?

Now we are going to get a deeper explanation. Pirish Sabbatha She'enot sada' kedushu, meaning there are two signs. There is the sada' kedushu and then there's the sada' kedushu. This is the same as the same as the same as the same as before, which means by definition, once something is outside of the sadah, what is it in? Sadach. So the altar of Amazim makes it very polarized here. You're either on this side of the chadushah or just literally means other side. So don't over think this. Meaning, there's a line in the sand. On one side of the line you have actions that are for the sake of Hashem. On the other side of the line you've got everything else. V'Tzara kedoush ha'ena ella ha'shirav ha'mashachamut usaso shalakatosh baracham. De'ena ha'qadosh Baruch Hu shairah ela'al davar shabbatul hatzalah yisbarach This is a very big line we're about to say in Tanya, it goes as follows.

When we speak about kedusha, what is kedusha? Kedusha is the Hasherah, it's a good English word for Hasherah, the presence that is connected in its essence to ha'qadosh Baruch. So remember we spoke about it being transparent? When something is on the side of kedusha, that is an expression of godliness. And a presence like Hashera sashkimah, the presence of the divine indwelling. It is godliness, it's the presence of God, it's the manifest presence of God. That's what kedusha is. And where do we find God? Only in, listen critical words here, only in things that are bahto that are nullified before Him. If something has it's own existence, it proclaims it's own existence. It says, I am real and nothing else is real. It doesn't point to god so to speak. So that is Tzachar Acha. That is not Tzach chatter. Why does it matter?

Bein Vipol Amamish kumulacham el Yodim One example of this would be an action, Amaluch is totally nullified before God. It has no choice of its own because its natural position is that it's totally nullified before God. That's on an action level. One second, next line, because I might answer your question, shall we? Right? But not only in the world of action, but also in the world of potential. Bein Bechorach, in potential, something also has the capacity to be uniquely godly. What would that be? Bein Bechorach, K'chol ish Yisrael Amatah. Like every single Jew, he's telling you now about unbelievable things about the nature of every single Jew. Every single Jew has the capacity to be moser nefesh, to give over, I didn't mean to say give up, to give over their lives to God. And in this way they nullify their existence before God. Okay? That's embedded in each and every one of us.

So for example, when a Jew dies, al-qiddish Hashem, it's not like somebody who dies for a cause. Do you understand what I mean when I say that? Let's say for example, I was marching for equal rights. Okay? And now I have the opportunity to die and be a martyr for the cause and then we'll advance the cause. So in a certain way, right, I'm shalolishmaw when I die. Right? Why? Because my death advances the cause. A Jew has the capacity to be nullified before God and to give up his life not because it's going to advance the cause of Judaism, but simply because that's what our Kabbush Baruch wants. That's when it comes to death, it's also when it comes to life. The fact that we have the capacity to give over our lives to God, meaning all the things that we want, live within the reality, within the context of what does God want from me, that's fundamental.

V'alach hain Amru and therefore we say Sha'afilu Echa'cha Yosef, usi kvatorashchina sharuya. Let's say you have one Jew, let's say Mike is sitting alone in your race mattress and he's 1230 at night. He's sitting and he's pounding Amara on his own. He's finishing Masakhtas left and right. Yeah, so he's all by himself. What would you say? The indwelling of the divine presence is present within him. Why? Because he's not present. The Divine Presence is present within him. Why? Because what is his posture in that moment? His posture in that moment is he's nullified his will to the will of God, meaning his will is God's will. Vech ha'chob ey a'sar ishkinte sharia loh lam. Let's say you have 10 Jews that get together in this room right now. Ten Jews just sitting there, get together. Again, what would you say? The divine presence can be found there. Avokomash Ano Batal Etzayu Sparach, but if you have something, and this is why it's polarizing, let's say I have something that is not Mevata itself to God, Elohudovir Nifert Bechne Atzmo, it presents as something separate and other than God. Ano makabochayes mich dushashashal Akal Gebaruch Hu Mebechne Haspena'yisakadushah Uma'husavat smusabachayidu v'Atzma. Elo mebechne sachorayim. This is

This is a very important point. Everything in this world is being sustained by God but there are two ways of being sustained by God. What we'll call frontal and then from the back. Frontal looks as follows. I'm going to give you the muscle. Let's say I care about Joey very much. In this case that happens to be true. I love Joey. I buy Joey a present. It was just Joey's birthday right? I buy Joey a present. How do I give the present? I say to Joey, I go over to Joey. I look him in the eye. I'm facing him. Other things I did not know, I got something for you. What if I were to do this? What if I were to take something, no card, and I go... I just toss it to you... you would not have the same experience? What's the difference in your experience? One is, it's not about the gift, it's about the person, and the other is it's about the package. So, I'll give you an example. When a person gets engaged, what do they do? They get down on one knee.

The diamond ring is no doubt precious, or the person who is down on one knee looking at you lovingly. The person, clearly the person. Watch this, everyone agrees that that's true. Because if a guy just goes here, take this. Tosses it right back. No, you take it, right? Now 20 years later if a guy goes and he gets his wife a diamond ring on a random day. What's the first thing his wife thinks? What did you do wrong? Very good, right? Why? Because the reason we give those big gifts in the beginning is because we're trying to let the person know how precious they are But after the relationship has developed if I still have to tell you how precious you are Must be that I did something wrong. And here's an amazing thing about relationships. Turns out that as you get older and the relationship becomes more mature, the card becomes more important than the gift. In fact...

Mom only wants cards. What was that? Mom only wants cards. Exactly right. Because they say, don't spend money on me. What they're really saying is, I want to see you. The gift is less important. And that's why an interesting thing. What's better as a gift? Jewelry, which is no doubt good. Good. Yeah, girls like jewelry or a piece of jewelry that was less expensive that one day you were walking along and Your wife mentioned to you. She really liked those earrings because they reminded of her for a grandmother And you went back to that place six months later for your anniversary Because you had it in the back of your head that your wife liked those earrings and you went ahead and you bought those earrings Shabbat teshuva m How do you get a great commercial? Because FedEx would be saying we're not just about the delivery of the package.

We have a personal relationship with our clients. They wouldn't be… Everyone else came up with it. Until they dropped the package at your door in Runz. No, but that's the point, right? See when they drop the package at your door and run, you know why they do that? Because they don't really care about you. They just have to get the package to your door. And their whole thing is I gotta get the package there as fast as possible, right? So that's called achorayim. That's called from the back. And here's the critical words. You guys gotta get these words down. This is critical. When something is me'achorayim, when I'm just handing the package, but I'm not looking at you, here's what it's called. It's necessary, but ultimately unimportant. You hear the difference? When I face you, what am I saying to you? It's not just necessary, it's important. But if I'm delivering the package, then me and you, it's necessary that we interact, but ultimately it's unimportant.

So when something is totally nullified, what's God's relationship with that thing? It's not just necessary, it's important. You understand? It's part of the divine plan in an active and obvious way. But when something is Nifrit, it's a government of Nifrit it presents a separate and other than God. It's necessary to have those things in the world. But ultimately, they, in and of themselves, are not important. It's what we can do with them that's important. You understand? It's just a delivery system. So it's like somebody like us who has a great year and he gets a big bonus from Hashem. So he says either he can say, he can nullify himself for Hashem and say, oh, it was all because of Hashem. And now it would be like, sure, Hashem the right way, make it Risad Rekaddusha, versus saying, oh, it was all because of me, I'm just an amazing person.

Okay, good, good, good. So now let's not do that case, because that's already a little bit more complicated. But let's just take something obvious. Let's take a case of tephelon, okay? Tefillin objectively, what's the presentation that Tefillin make to the world? My usage is godly. That's the only usage for them. So they are not just necessary, they're also functionally, like they are in and of themselves the Taflis. Whereas when it comes to something that presents as a Doverniferid from God, right, something that's totally other than God, it's necessary to have those things in the world because they're part of the divine plan, but they're not the purpose of the divine plan, they're going to springboard you to something else. I'm not ready for questions yet because I just want to get through all of this and then I'm going to get to questions. I know we usually break it up a little more.

Kedushu means that something is transparent godliness. It's readily available for godliness, not just available. It's present. It poses. It doesn't pose. It presents itself as godliness. And therefore one second and one second and therefore it's Chayos, it's life force comes from wherever it's like. Comes straight from a kolosh baruch whose essence, God bechodu v'adzmo. And then there's this other stuff that presents us other than God. It's also being sustained by God but meiachorayim. One second let's keep going. We're almost, we're almost, I'm almost there just stay with me. I don't, I promise I'll answer all your questions. So this life force, let's talk for a second about this life force. This life force, that is, mi bechinas achorayim, you should all know what that means now. It's not just coming from the back of God, but it also, listen, what he says, shayyartim yimadreigil, madreigil, rivavos madreigos, bechtashtul salamos. It doesn't come straight. It doesn't come straight. What does it do? It goes through all, it goes through all.

You guys okay? It goes through all of the different alamos. Yeah, so that light is constantly being strained. So by the time it gets down to the actual person, right? Or to the actual thing, the presence of godliness is even more diminished. I'll make sure you guys understand this. When something is rebbechinaz kedushah, right? And it's getting its life force straight from God. It's God Straight to the thing but when the thing presents as a David Nifurad from God so then not only is it coming from God's Achoriah and it's coming from the back. It's necessary but unimportant but it also has to travel There's a journey and as that journey as the as that light so to speak that life force takes that journey it diminishes and Therefore by the time it gets to the actual place, right? It's not as it's not as powerful Derach eelah var'al Elevu'ol, I'm not going to get into that right now. If you want you can ask me afterwards what Elevu'ol means.

It's Tzim Tzim Tzim Ravu'vavu. The point is that it's constantly, that light is being strained until the godliness of the thing is kimmat nazim. Ashem ismaik kokkach ha'orba'chayah is the light becomes so little. Miur achor miur, it gets smaller and smaller. Asha yachh lez samsim us labish buchin naz golos tak usy davar an'yefr. This is what's critical. Now this godly light that's in that ring, It's called an exile. This is what exile means. You guys want to know the definition of exile? The altar of the rabbis gave it to you. Exile means I don't feel like I belong here. So you are able to take this godly light, this amazing, infinite godly light, and what happens to it? It comes from Yotin HaSacharayim all the way down through some sunram yavim, illuv all, until it gets into the actual thing. And what if you could speak to the godly force in that thing, what would it say?

What am I doing here? I don't feel like I belong. That's the definition of exile. Yes, one more time. I have a godly life force, which is huge, right? But already it's not from the essence. Where is it from? B'chinas Achorayim, from the back. Now, it doesn't come straight like the kalusha does, right? It travels. It means Madreigah, Madreigah, through all the Hishtashulis Olamis, through all those worlds that we discussed, the four worlds. You don't know what that means? It means you What happens when you're in the beginning or you haven't been paying attention? It goes through all those worlds. Now, what happens is it goes through those worlds. The light diminishes, it gets refracted. So I'm told you get down to the very very bottom, now it's so refracted that it's able to be contained. A godly light is able to be contained in something that presents itself as other than God.

OK? And now what's the feeling that godly light has? I am an exile. I'm an ghost. I don't belong here. Lachayusol lachaimo me'ayen liesh shalal yaxar leos ayin v'evas betri'lah mikotam shenevra What the carpenter made the table out of? Made it out of wood. So he took the wood and what did he do? He reshaped it. Okay? Did he create the wood? He didn't create the wood, he reshaped the wood. He took something and he fashioned it into something else. Is the carpenter's presence necessary now that the table has been built? No. Why not? Because the something that he had before hand, namely the wood... The Word always had the capacity to become a table, it just needed to be reformatted. Fair? Fair one second, you got that? But, and here's the line you're not gonna understand. It's a classical line you ready for it?

There's nothing about nothingness that implies somethingness. So there's been cause to your, what is it? There's nothing about nothingness that implies somethingness. When you say the world comes from nothing, what does that mean it comes from nothing? Kashiimum eretemah Hashem Khem Khem Hashem Khem No, it's not nothing if there is potential for something. Absolutely nothing came absolute something. Right. That's the point. So now think about that. So it means at this point in step A, when you look at nothing, you don't see something. So the difference between the carpenter and God is once the carpenter just takes a piece of wood and he reshapes it into a table, he's no longer necessary. But once, but if you're talking about ex nylos, something from nothing, you need a constant flow of energy in order for it to be maintained. Think about a light bulb, right? In order for the light bulb to turn on, what do you need?

You need not only to be able to flip the switch to be able to make the circuit, right? But you need to have the capacity for the electricity. If the electricity is not constantly flowing into the light, the light doesn't turn on. So therefore we say that God's presence has to be in the world in all moments. Why? Because there's nothing about nothingness that implies somethingness. It's not like the carpenter. So what would happen if even for one minute God said, I don't desire the world. Shabbat Teshuvah V'lachheinikre olamazee'um lo' olamakleepos v'situr ahchreh And that's why if we look at this world, what would you say about it? Fundamentally, would you say that this world presents godliness or hides godliness? Which way would you say it? I would say the ups. This world hides godliness. When you look at a table you don't think God.

But you don't think it because you're used to it. That's not just because you're used to it. Do you see God when you look at a table? The fact that you don't do that because then you're making a mistake. You're going, no, no, but Yiddishke told me how to see it. That doesn't mean the world was like that. Yiddishke told you how to see it that way. That's great. That's awesome. But when you look at a The Lachayin kommaisu elemazek kashim veram which is why so many actions in our world are difficult. Vayir ishayim gai vermbam. Our world is the territory of the Russia. Kamosh hakassim veit's chayim sharmim beit's so pak dalah. Because the Russia is in his element here. Because the Russia lives within what? He lives within the thinkiness of the world. He lives within the worldliness of the world, not paying attention to the godliness that inheres within.

Because the godliness that inheres within went through so many Tsumtsumim, it's barely noticeable. Okay, we will now take one second, just timing-wise. We will now take seven minutes worth of questions, because after that, I'm toast. Everyone gets one question in a piece. Yes, I lied. No, I say I pushed it down at the capacity. I would be took you I'm not sure that you asked from today till tomorrow I'm sorry. I'm not my head feels like it's about to fall. Everyone can get one question till you can get two All right, so you can get three Okay, I'm doing speed rounds Ezra go Tovrayam tzidra, akadev shalom, zidra, akara, and mab Enough for that. How can this infinite light, there's infinite light or infinite power, when it gets to the object, feel that it's been so diminished that it's an exile?

It's by definition an infinite light. Infinite means infinite. It shouldn't be diminished just because it traveled a little far to get here. What we need to say is obviously the infinite light in its infinite state says I'm infinite. But when you have infinite light that's been refracted, it's like imagine you have a light that's in a lamp, right? Surah B'otta look at the lampshade so the light itself says look at me I'm very bright but the light that's now passed through the lampshades says why do I feel so diminished? A minute ago I felt like I was exploding with light because you went through the lampshade and then it says to myself I really don't feel comfortable in this state of having gone through the lampshade I liked it better before the lampshade Abulat Shabbat B'leth wants to go back to the... exactly right that's why it feels like it's in Golis it wants to be redeemed You understand how you started the Ednaan? That light that's beyond now that's been refracted and gone through that eel of a hollowed some supermabim until it got to that place what does it want? It wants redemption it wants to be brought back to its source Tanya A something much more complex than the word just connected we're saying that when

something isizoam but it's it is the goal it's not just necessary towards getting us to a goal it is the one you are When you speak about connection, connection is true, we're saying something more profound than that. We're saying that when something comes from God's essence, the thing itself is gufa, the goal. As opposed to like like when it comes to let's say the FedEx guy they're just necessary components to get you the package. So the goal is to get the platform, you know, set? Yes, Kedusha, correct. Kedusha is a label person. I thought it might be a label person. Yes, but it's not a label. It's a fundamental shift in the world. It's not just like it's not just got a math category. It's a shift in the way that the world behaves. Oh my gosh. That's a very good point. It's a die bombing morph. It's a morph. It's a morph. It's a morph. I don't know what that is. You knew me. You're so big. Okay, okay. Maru. Let's go. What would you say about the Chayas of that morph right now? We're forgiving. Go away. Tovya. It's a harm you did. Alright, Tovya, I'll tell you what, you'll ask me the rest of your questions privately.
