Deeply appreciative to the Mashkiah and to all the Shannabesh Rebayim for giving me the opportunity to speak to Shannabesh for a couple of minutes this morning. So several last night by Rebbe's wedding, guessing what topic of today's Shmuzh was going to be. We'll see if you're... Hashem Tov Vayera Touched Heaven Every detail of the stories in Chumash are critical. Very often what happens is that in our attempts to focus on the main thing, we lose out on the main thing because we miss important details. Most of us, Shnayim Mikra, just flying through this pzukim, don't pay much attention to the And the role of these two young men that are accompanying Abraham and Yitzchak.
And the emphasis that the role that they play seems to be almost non-existent. If they weren't in the story, the story would be exactly the same. I think they have this with certain movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark. Like if the guy wasn't part of the movie, it would be the exact same story. Rav Ram and Yitzchuk travel together to go to the Yitzchuk. That's the story. The fact that Yisrael and Eliezer, who Rashi tells us, are these two Narmim, if they weren't there, the story would be exactly the same. What role do they play? So Rashi, quoting the Medrash, says it's Yisrael and Eliezer. Why? Why are they there? She'en Adam chosheb rachaelatzei sladerach b'lei beisanachu Because an important person does not go without at least two attendants. They're the Dabayim, they're the Yishamish, they're the Nesharsim, that's their job. And then Rashi adds an interesting detail.

She'em Yisrael chachachadun nikavav v'y Yisrael chayk y'ya she'enimav Why two? Because if one of them will need to use the bathroom, There'll still be somebody who's there with Avram Avinu. It's a very strange Rashi. The fact that you need to tell us that Avram Avinu went with these servants that seemed to play no role in the story, even that's strange. But that Rashi needs to tell us, and why too? If one of them needs to go to the bathroom, don't worry Avram Avinu still has somebody there. The Taz in Dibre Dovid asks another question, very beautiful question. Let's see if anybody gets this. I wouldn't have gotten it. Where else in the Torah do we see that an Adam Khashuv is traveling and he's also traveling with two young men. Anybody know? Very good. Not surprised at all that you were the one that got the answer. A massmid like that. There's No Doubt He's going to know the stories of Chumash. Exactly right. Villom is on his way. He's traveling. It's not a good story. He's riding a donkey.
Ushnayna aravimo And he's got two young men with him. And Rashi over there explains what appears to be almost exactly the same thing, but it's actually pretty different. Rashi says, Mi'kan la Adam Choshevayotzil d'arach yolach imosh nayah anoshom l'shamshom From here we learn that an Adam Choshev that's going on the way should have two people with him to serve him. The Chosar Moomo Shamsim says that, and each one will be able to replace each other. If one of them is busy, don't worry, you have the other one, he's always available. It's a very, very strange Rashi. First of all, what do you mean, Mi'kan? We already learned in the story of Avram Avino that an Adam Chashuv has people to be Mishaneshin And now you're telling me that we're learning it only later in the story of B'lam Also, here in this Rashi, Rashi doesn't mention anything about going to the bathroom Just sounds like if one of them is unavailable, don't worry, there's a second one Why by us does Rashi have that strange detail about going to the bathroom?
Also Jestam an Interesting Diuk. If you look at the two tzukim, they're not exactly the same even though they appear to be. In our pasaq it says, Vayikach tashnein arav ito. What does that mean? He took toon the RM, what does ito mean? With him. And over there by Billam it says, Ushnein arav imo. Not ito but imo, which sounds like exactly the same thing. Taz makes this deal that it doesn't appear to be exactly the same. Also one last fascinating point, we never find out the names of the two the two Gabbayim that are walking with Bilaam. That Rashi doesn't tell us, unnecessary for us to know their names. They're just they're just Shamashim, they're just there. But in Elweir's story it's critical to know that it's Yisrael and Eliezer Okay, lots of good questions. What happens? What happens on this journey to Aqedah's Yitzchot? So we all know the Medrash, Rashi quotes the Medrash, Vayel mashlishi Vayisa Rama Sayyina Vayaras Amatom Erazok. They're traveling along the way and they see this place from afar.
What they see, Rashi tells us, Ra Anan Koshur Elahara. They saw a cloud that was kashur that was As attached to the mountain and the magish explains at length Amr'lul Yitzchak roa'atamash'an yiroa'ah do you see what I see? This is what avramovinu turns to Yitzchak and he says do you see what I see? Amr'l'o ani roa'aharnam shubach v'anankosh r'olav He says I see an amazing mountain and I see that there is an anan I see there's A cloud that's attached to the mountain amr'l'an arav And avramovinu turns to Eliezer and yeshmael and he says Roan atem klum Do you guys see anything? Amr Lo'a, ain't no roan atem baros. We only see the desert. Ha'bri, you know what that means? That means they were walking in the desert and they saw nothing. No mountain, no cloud, they just saw the expanse of the desert. Amr Lo'ahem, shvulachhem poemachamor You guys stay here with the donkey.
And we know what Chazaq say, Yishmul is Amadom El-Achamar, it's a nation that's compared to a donkey, which we certainly see coming to fruition in our times. If you want to hear a really inappropriate story about Shulach Ampo Amachamar, I highly recommend that you speak to her, Chananya Berson, today. I'll tell you an amazing, old, absolutely inappropriate story that goes along with this puzzle. But I am not going to tell that story, I'm just going to tell you where to find it. Tzamara Muck I imagine, based on this measuresh, they're walking, there's nothing in front of them and then Avraham and Yitzhak just evaporate like in Harry Potter when you're walking into the train station, you just walk through the beam, you just evaporate. They evaporated and they went and there's a home isa with the Aqedah. Fine. So what role do these two, what do you say? You know Gek wrote He wrote a saver, he's very righteous. I want to publicly ask Mechila from Gek for not making him the center of attention last week. He said he was already munching on me. Now I have to ask him Mechila again.
The whole role that these two and the are in play is what? They show up at the mountain, they don't see it, Avram and Yitzchak leave. Now a Kithis Yitzchak happens. We're not going to go into the whole story of a Kithis Yitzchak. And at the very, very end, what happens? Vayi Shev Avram El Na'arav Avram Avinu returns to Yishmal and to Eliezer. Who's absent? Who's absent, who's not in this story? Yitzchak. Yitzchak's often Shammayim somewhere, Chazaseh. Vayakumu Vayaku Yachtavev Vayershava. They get up, they leave together to Vayershava. Vayi Shev Avram Vayershava. So the whole role that these Gabbayim plan is they accompany Avram Avinu to the Achaida. Don't see the mountain at the end they accompany avram avilu tiber sheva very very strange story I want to share with you something amazing from the marv hashemesh since you know kevra This is a missing element of our story we focus appropriately we say that the story
of akkadosh Yitzchak is about Yitzchak that's certainly true it's about avram's willingness Misera Snefesh from here until the end of time Marv Hashemesh says though that there's an element, a dimension to the story that's absolutely critical to understand. And he says, and I'm going to say it in my own words, but I think this is what he means. How do you relate to those that are not on the madreigah of Yitzchot? And then come into the story that is absolutely critical to understand. And he says, and I am going to say it in my own words, but I think this is what he means. How do you relate to those that are not on the Madreah of Yitzvah? What do you do with those, with those guys that are not Zaych to see the mountain? What do you do with those people that are not Rho?
They are big people Yeshmael and Eliezer. You should know the Hauter of Slabalka and Harat Safur, he says, Yeshmael and Eliezer were big people. They grew up in the house of Avromavinu. These were spiritual people, serious people but they were not r'oyid to see the mountain They weren't shaiach takey desh yitzvak on any level The marv Hashem Hashem says it's a story not only about avram avinu's relationship with yitzvak It's a story about avram avinu's relationship with yishmal and Eliezer They weren't just his gabbayim they weren't just his shammashim And they were important to Him, and therefore at the end of the story, Vayaachush N His soul if it's most essential proper vayyel hushnayim yachtov once yitzhak understood that I'M going to be the carbon what does Rashi tell us? He went with the same exact heart as avrama vinu there was no distance there was no daylight between avrama vinu and yitzhak and it's fascinating the marva shausen vayyel hushnayim yachtov after the aqedah when avrama vinu was returning to b'er sheva vayyel hushnayim yachtov
He has a relationship with Eliezer and yishmael he does not leave behind those people that are not roly to the highest levels of vision of Hakadosh Baruch Hu They are also important to him he is makarov them he draws them ghosts these people who a moment ago he said they are amhadom el-akhamaal Imagine he said to yishmul, you stay here, you're like the danke, you're not capable of going tachey this Yitzchak But now at the end of the story says, okay, so you're like the danke, but you're still my family, you're still my child, you May not be Jewish, you May not be a part of the Jewish nation, which is still important to me And by the way that's what the medjur says, you know the medjur says that even after avram avinu threw yishmul out of the house because he was trying to murder Yitzchak He kept a relationship with him the medjist tells us that avram avinu would go to check on him from time to time And he showed up at yishmaul's tent after he was married and yishmaul's wife didn't offer yishmaul wasn't home And yishmaul's wife did not offer any food or drink to avram avinu So avram avinu told yishmaul's wife she didn't realize he was avram He said tell your husband an old man came by and he's chosen poorly
Yishmaul came home that night and his wife says to him probably from doing whatever he was doing He was an archer, he was a ganav, he was a bandit He Comes Home And his wife says we had the craziest thing A Visitor Came And he told me to tell you an old man came And You'Ve Chosen Poorly And the medjur says that Yisrael divorced his wife Because his tati came and his tati said you chose poorly Because she doesn't have the midah of achmasu sarqim And by the way even today Yisrael has unbelievable achmasu sarqim Comes From Avram Avinu Mejus tells us that later Yeshmael remarried, same thing happened, this time she offered him food and drink. Avram Avinu said, it's not mahadru, no Avram Avinu said, it's mahbuh, it's good for your papa's business, yeah? Avram Avinu said, Avram Avinu said, Shabbat. Avram Avinu said, tell your husband an old man came and he's chosen wisely. Why would Yeshmael listen to Avram Avinu? Know what the prayer says?
Same person same tatia that threw him out of the house Yeah I threw you out of the house because you were trying to murder my other son But no not in a million years does that mean it's the end of our relationship The nature of avram avinu is yachtav he's koila avribom That's the nature of what it means to be a Jew And that's what the taz explains The taz explains that there's a difference between being the shammis of avram avinu And Being The Shamas of Bilaam By Bilaam where was Bilaam riding? Bilaam is riding on his donkey. Where is Shamashim walking? They're walking on the ground. They're not, they're low. And Bilaam is big. He's about Giva. I ride the car. You guys walk next to me. By Avramavina what does it say? By Echavosh Ashamorot? What he put on the donkey? All the stuff. Where was Avramavina walking? The Taz says Avramavina was walking with Yitzvah, with Yisrael, with Eliezer.
Because he was humble because he wanted to be with the people Like the Rosh hashivas sitting here every day Betayf amchan yoshefas he wanted to be with the people Yachthob that's the nature of avram avinu That's what the taz is medayik the difference between ito and imma Ito means that they were like him and he was like them He never saw them as his servants He never saw them as pawns in a chessboard to make me look good This is my people. These are the people I care about. And that's why their names are unimportant by Bilaam. Because Bilaam doesn't care who they are. Bilaam doesn't have a real relationship with them. To him, they're just employees. By Avramavino, it's important to tell us the names. You gotta know who they are. That's why the difference is, that Rashi says by Bilaam, there's always going to be somebody to serve him. But when it comes to Avramavino, it's not about serving him.
It's about being with them. Rav Nachman writes in the Kut'el office on this passage that Itzadik always needs to give. Itzadik always wants to shine his light on others. There needs to be at least two people there. He says you know why? He says because Itzadik shines his light on them and then they shine their light on each other. The nature of Itzadik is that he gives something off and that That light that he gives off then you share it You're not selfish with that light it always has to be that there's two people there Says Rebbe nachman because HaTzaddik can't bear to be by himself HaTzaddik wants to be mashi'piah he wants to give off HaTzaddik would never in a million years be satisfied If he's a real tzadik if he's an avrom avinu tzadik With His Own Avodas Hashem At-Sadiq would never be satisfied with just looking and saying, I'm doing great. How could you say, I'm doing great? If the guy next to you wasn't receiving anything from you. And if that light isn't profound enough, then he wants to share it with somebody else. That's the nature of what it means to be a Yid. Every one of us is at-Sadiq. Every one of us has award-Sadiq inside of ourselves.
In terms of steiging and this yeshiva, in terms of learning, in terms of Hasmata, I heard that Dink, that's a burger's name, Dink, a division of GOC, I heard that there's like 40 guys in the chat, unbelievable, unbelievable, that guys are going to commit themselves to staying up all night on a Thursday night learning, super impressive. In fact, I'll share with you, I was Zaycheh in my life to learn Bechavruzah with the guy who is now a major, major, not just a Posek, a Dayan in Lakewood, his name is Roshmul Be'al Shleetah. Roshmul Be'al Shleetah is probably the biggest moshmet that any of us will ever meet. If you ever go to Lakewood and you ask people who is the moshmet of Lakewood, people will say Roshmul Be'al Shleetah. It's an unbelievable, 22 hours a day in Yeshiva you still learn. 22 hours without exaggeration. He was younger than me and my Rebbe forced me to learn with him. I didn't want to learn with him.
I want to learn with this, you know, like guy fresh out of Yeshiva in our Tzisra'el. And my Rebbe said, listen, me learning with you is the equivalent of you learning with him. So I'm learning with you, so you have to learn with him. I had no choice. And now, forgive me for speaking this way because he's a proper, proper Tammah Chachim. Sami Bausch J.C. Kidd Sami Bausch is now Roshmul Bausch. He's an Adam Chashav and he used to stay up all Thursday night. He used to chazur all of Masaqis kzuvis on a Thursday night. Here, you imagine that. All of Masaqis kzuvis on a Thursday night. Unbelievable. Beni, O'al Mesedah Tsugas, wow, got it in his pocket. And he was an on-of-a-bered, he didn't tell anybody. Terzur Shtigim, unbelievable. Unbelievable. Super impressive. But I have a juk in my head. I have something in my head. And I want to share it as a friend.
Ayachushnei Yachtov, we're all in this together. I want to share it as a friend. My Rosh Yeshiva when I was growing up was Rav Yachav Bender Shleet. I was Archeh to be in Darchi, old Darchi, before Darchi was in airport. I sat with my Rosh Yeshiva, maybe it's two years ago at this point, flew into a wedding in America, and Rosh Yeshiva was there. If you know anything about Rabbi Bender, you know he's the busiest person in the world. He used to drive by Darchi sometimes two, three o'clock in the morning, and the light in his office was still on. This is before the new building where his office was mamish on beach 17th and you can see right in I saw his silhouette 3 o'clock in the morning still working. It was amazing. I was sitting with him by a chassna and I had real time with him. I want you to know in Rebbe Bender's life you don't get real time with him. You get 60 seconds, 120 seconds, 180 seconds and you already got the equivalent of 10 hours. He doesn't have time. He's running the Yeshiva Baruch Hashem of thousands of chalmidim Dealing with the wildest things I'll tell you Erev Yom Kippur I found out just now Erev Yom Kippur you know what he does in the five towns?
What's his hachanas on Erev Yom Kippur? What does he do? He goes to visit all of those women that lost their husbands He makes the rounds all over the five towns Just visiting almanas That's his hachana for Yom Kippur He himself was a Yosim at a very young age His father passed away when he was 13 years old 14 years old he was learning in Yeshiva Philadelphia It's a famous story that the Gedeliy Adar of Shmuel Kamenetsky and Nervalius Zweizi, Isaac Zatokul Vrakla, came to pick him up to bring him to Brooklyn because his father had passed away. He's very sensitive. You don't get time with her by Bender. He's the biggest, he's not much the busiest person in the world. Sitting with him by the Skasna, I think I sat next to him for an hour. To sit next to him for an hour, he's a mayana miskabir and I just sat there listening to him.
And he says to me, and I'm not going to imitate him because of my respect for him, If you know Rebbe Bender's voice, he has a very specific style of speech where he speaks in a very abrupt way. It's very beautiful. And he says to me, and forgive me if I slip into the voice. I'm not trying to. Mordechai, they finally came around to my way of thinking. They finally came around to my way of thinking in the Yeshivosha world. They finally came around to my way of thinking. Hessev comes first. I said okay. I didn't know where he was going with it. I was just listening. I was on that train early. I bought stock early. Okay, say there. He says, you know why? I said why? He says because of all the shalom bias issues that exist in Klal Yisrael. They finally figured out what I've been preaching for my entire career.
You can put a boy in the base of the magish and you can put him in front of a block of marah and he can accomplish tremendously. But it's not absolutely true that that boy who is a very big Tama Chafim is a mensch. It's not true that he's a better husband, that it's not true that he's a better father. But if you push chassid and if you teach people that tayrash chassid is not a stearah, then you make a mensch. That's how you make a father, that's how you make a husband, that's how you make leaders of communities. There are people in this room that are going to be leaders of communities. Big Tammi D'chaimim are capable of giving amazing shurim and I'm taking nothing away from that, that's awesome. I want every single guy in this Shabbat to manage to become a proper kamukhachim, each on your own level.
But if we don't talk about achraias and responsibility for each other, we're missing something fundamental. Because if you don't take achraias for each other now, what are we doing here? There are amazing Rebbeim in this yeshiva. But it's possible that you could find a better shear and a different yeshiva. And if that's all a yeshiva is to you, if a yeshiva is just the place where you could learn from the best possible Rebbe, first of all I feel sad for you. Shabbat. Shabbat. Go somewhere else. Go hear a higher level shear. Go hear a better Yeshiva
Lowkey this whole game is over and none of us can have any jobs. That would be true if you came to Yeshiva just to learn Torah. I hope that you're not here just to learn Torah. I hope you're here to grow as people. And that means taking responsibility for each other. And that means that you're part of something larger than yourself. And that's how Shkaffa, that I'm part of something larger than myself, it's fundamental. The guy drills a hole in the bottom of the boat. Somebody comes over and goes, what are you doing? He goes, it's my seat, I can do what I want. It is your seat, but if you do what you want and you drill a hole under your seat, everybody's going to go down. Chol Yisrael Eretzem Zalazem means what every single one of us does matters to every single one of us.
We're responsible, we're achra'i for each other. Which means, and mamish not as a Muslim, that if you guys think that the story of HaKedosh Yitzvak was a story only about Avram and Yitzvak, only about a guy who reached the highest levels and Yitzvak doesn't come down from the mountain, he's mamish and the Ailama Salayina, so a guy could fast for Shalom walk away with the feeling that's what I'm in Yeshiva to do. I'm here to reach my highest levels And that is a tragedy because the story is not a story about Yitzot reaching the highest levels. It's about Avram Avinu knowing how to be Mechanah Yitzot and also to draw close Yeshmael and Eliezah. Yeshmael and Eliezah. We've given you the opportunity to be the leadership of this Yeshiva in every dimension. Shanael, Shanaeb El-Februzaz, Stighen creating an Avirah in the beis medrash, creating an
Renav Imran Shabis I'm not looking behind him, and I don't want to see his face. I'm not looking. Shmer Say Nahim, I'm not looking. I want you guys to have a good time in the Federal College Office. I want, I like it. Is it, as R'safir calls it sometimes buffoonery? Yeah, it is. And would we like it to be a little bit of a higher level? Absolutely. And there's also a place for chicken and waffles. Two things could be true. But what there's no place for is a guy who goes, I'm not down. I'm not down. It's not what I'm interested in right now. Because every time you do that and you say, I'm not down and I'm focusing on myself, you're drilling a hole under your boat. And you think it doesn't impact other people, it does. We had the most unbelievable thing this past week.
I have the Safer Maimer sitting on my desk. Ezra, I don't know. Where's Ezra? Ezra, I don't know when I'm going to take it off my desk. Eventually I'll put it on the shelf. But right now you're Safer sitting on the same place on my desk. Every morning I walk into Yeshiva I sit down I see ezra safer it motivates me Gotta work hard to build this Yeshiva the next ezra schwartz the next safer the next guy You're Safer I can't Move it off my desk I will Eventually Even Today I had to put up my new Romanians I didn't Take the Safer off the desk That's A plug for every Chicago Guy to bring Romania when they come I hold You'll Forgive me for Speaking in This Way I only Mean it in the nicest Way Possible When we had the celebration of a guy in Yeshiva, bringing us safer, Baruch Hashem was beautiful. So many guys here. I'm not getting mushed to any guy that was in here. That's for sure. I know so many guys were here. It was Mamish Amazim. It was a beautiful Mishmar. But a guy who doesn't come, he thinks. Like it doesn't matter if I come. I'm still holding by Teishe Tzavir Masel Lofikal. I can't let it go. It's coursing through my veins. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe Bababas was coursing through your veins. Maybe.
Or maybe it's Guyf. Maybe it's Guyf. Maybe there's a sense of Aniva Afseo. It's my life. I do what I want. There's nothing else in this world. And I'm not here to be a Mashpia. I'm not here to share my life with others. And to share it so profoundly that that light needs to be transferred from other people because they can't stop talking about that light. Because that's the topless of what it means to be a Yid. I won't embarrass him even though I desperately want to. As a young man who came to me this past week to talk about, because last week I was ready, to talk about maybe having a career in Chinnoch. What it would take and what are the next steps that he needs to take? Nachas. Nachas that a young man who is learning Tyra, and not everybody has to go into Chinnoch. But Nachas that a young man who is learning Tyra is thinking to himself, and how can I share it?
Not how can I hold on to it, how can I share it? And everybody has a Chaylek in Tyra. I live on the same block, I'm sorry to live on the same block as very very special people. Down the block is Ravelez Tephez. Arguably the most impactful in terms of size of audience, Magat Sheer and the history of Talyisraal. 60,000 people a day between the English year and the Hebrew year are listening to Ravelez Tephez. But before he was MDY, he was just a guy in the neighborhood who played ball on Fridays with us. He was really good at rebounding, he was very strong And nobody ever thought that ravelli stavanski was going to be a maggotshir And a couple of g'hevra in the neighborhood They said you should make a dafyomi There was no fix, I'll be coming on ski A bunch of guys got together And then one day a guy threw up a phone And Pressed YouTube And He Recorded It That's how the whole thing started And Now 60,000 People Who Knows Who knows if there's a guy in this room Was the capacity to impact 60,000 people. You'll say I don't have the capacity to impact 60,000 people. It's not true I'm sorry for highlighting me again and again, but I'm I was blessed. He was my roommate. I was his roommate
John Donat was just a dude and now he's a guy who's raised in excess of 20 million dollars of stock and he's changing the world People in this room could change the world if they won't be selfish If they'll understand that Torah is designed to be shared The besterman knows that comes Mishmar every week he plays guitar why? Because he likes playing guitar? I know he likes playing guitar. Because I was here in my office for a repersal shirru. But why does He do it for the Klal? Because it's not good to play music for yourself. You play music, you want to be a mazakah, they're abu. Every time guys in this yeshiva make a choice to say what's good for me and not what's good for the Klal, I have a juk in my head, Rebbe, Abedur saying to me, Mordechai, you're not doing a good enough job.
Gotta push them, gotta push them to beat for others, push them to learn with a guy who's not having such an easy time in shear Not Just to do Chazzara, Chazzara's a shiur is Amazing but do Chazzara with a Guy that Didn't Understand it as Well Nachas, a Guy in Yeshiva reached out to me this Week, again I want to Embarrass him but I won't Isha Navetta, one of you Guys, he said Rebbe's Always Into Learning with a weaker Guy But like Where do I draw the line if I'm Gonna Learn with him but maybe it's not Gonna be so good I'm not just from that, I'm not just from that. That he's trying to share his tire. That's great. I'm not here at all to give mussar. Just to be, just mamish to remind us that we're not here for ourselves. We're not here for ourselves. We're not consumers. If you're a consumer of this Yeshiva, if you think you're a client, if you think you're a Beyhem, our service providers,
Rovisaphras If you think that people are giving leyv v'nefesh to you because they see themselves as like, I provide a service. If you think when we get in the car, you know, it's going to be soon. We're already holding by the end of October, beginning of November. By the end of November, beginning of December, you're going to see Rovisaphras basically physically going to be falling apart. He gets in the car in the morning, he's exhausted, he's coughing up a lung. He still pushes through. You gotta push it. You gotta push it. He sits in the back of the car. He mumbles. It ain't easy in this world, Ralak. He says like all these things. I'm just driving, cracking up the entire time. The rosh doesn't say a word. Just straight out of it. Why is he killing himself? Why is he killing himself to be a marbit stardom? He knows the lumbus already. Why is he killing himself to be a marbit stardom? It's for you guys.
It's not getting paid well, nobody in the yeshiva is getting paid well, nobody is making money. Yeshiva loses money. If we don't run the fundraiser at the end of the year, the yeshiva loses money. We're in this not to be your service providers and you're not our clients. And if that's what you think you are, and if that's how you treat this yeshiva, then I invite you to find another yeshiva where you can go consume your product at a higher level. I promise you that if you make that decision at some point in your life you're going to figure out that that was the worst decision you could have made in your life. Because you won't be a better father, you won't be a better husband because of it, you certainly won't be a member of the Jewish community who actually contributes. I'll leave you with this. During Covid there was an article that was written by Rabbi Moskak who is the Rav of Yom Yisrael of Oceanside.
He's a very good writer. At the time, and I'm sure you guys don't remember this because you were young, At the time, people were pulling their membership from shul's. Because they said, why should I pay membership for the shul if I'm not going to shul? They had the same thing by the way in Yeshivas. We wanted to have guys back after Pesach. They shut down the skies. And there were parents that reached out, understandably. They said, you're not providing the service. We don't want to pay tuition. And there were other parents that said, you know, you've done so much for us. We'll pay the tuition. It's Chavah that our sons can't come back. We want to pay tuition because we want to support the Yeshiva that gave their lives to our children. Chavah that they can't finish the year together in person. There were parents that I know that called me up that said to me, I'm sure some of the Rebbeim are having a hard time because some of the Rebbeim got furloughed which meant that they weren't making their full salary.
What can I do to give those rebbeim money that the rebbeim should never know where it's coming from? Let them just have the money show up in their bank account to support that Rebbe who supported my son who went the extra mile And I must get in this article and you could send them this recording Probably, and I've read a lot from Rebbe muscat over the years, I used to go to oceanside many years ago when I still lived in America Probably the best article I ever read from Rabbi Maskeh. He said, are you consumers or are you partners? You pull your membership from our shul, said then all you are is a consumer. But when a company is having a difficult time and you're an investor, you're a partner in the company, you double down. Hever, it's a time to double down. It's a time to double down. It's a time to make sure that every one of us is supporting everybody else. In the same minyanim, in Yeshiva, In the initiatives, in being here on Inshabbosos, in making sure that you're not just a taker. Havodas Hamidos is absolutely essential. Derach Eretz Padmolotair. Habboisai had an amazing day of learning.
