Perekei Chelik Beis. Last time we met we were discussing how Torah is the ultimate mitzvah of intimacy. It's the ultimate mitzvah of double oneness because the mind contains the idea and the idea contains the mind. If we were learning about architecture so then we would only contain the idea of the building, but we would not contain the architect. However, when it comes to Torah, because God and the Torah are one, because God is one with His thought, Tovia Chwila Tovia Tovia Yes, that's true, but Kavana is not the same thing. If you recall the Altar Rebbe was discussing learning the Iyun, really getting into the idea. Yeah. Learning towards a long-term form. Yes. But that doesn't mean there's... One second. It doesn't mean that there's not a role for Davening. Think about it. It's like there's a time for learning and there's a time for Davening.

Yeah, the halacha is that if you were something called toraso umnaso, toraso umnaso means... Guys, kill me. Toraso umnaso means... It's okay. It's okay. I don't mind. I don't mind. I don't mind. Tareq It's okay, just because I'm fasting today, it doesn't matter. The Tarasul Nasser means that if I'm learning, no thank you, if I'm learning all day, so then I, what's called, so then I don't stop to dapha. That's the halakh. If somebody's on that level, then they don't have to stop to dapha. Because we're not on that level, but there are people, if you were in theory on that level, so then you would not stop. Zach. Zach? The Gemara says that somebody who abandons Torah to go Davan, if they're on that level, they're leaving Chayel Amabah for Chayeshah. But again, for our level, it's the right thing, of course, to Davan. Sami?

Question why on the top of the page is it saying Rebbe? Is there a ratio? V'zos miley Yisrael gedolu v'niflul l'enkeits asher b'mitzvah siddiya satoru gahasagasa alkolomitzos mysios v'afilu hammitzos atluya b'dibur

Talmud Torah Kaneged Kulam Altareba says, and even on the Dibur aspect of the Mitzvot Talmud Torah, that's not as great as the thinking aspect of the Mitzvot Talmud Torah. Why? Kiayayidei kol ha-Mitzvos Shabbat Dibur u-ma'isa ha-Qadosh Baruch u-malbish as-anefesh u-ma'kippur or Hashem me'roshavah ad-radlah Before we explained that the Torah and God are one, okay, that by now should be obvious to you because God is one with His thoughts, Hakadosh Baruch Hu'ar mitsum Tsam in the Torah So when I'm bringing God inside of me, now that means that when you're learning Torah you're bringing God into yourself and therefore all of the powers of your soul with the actual I'm sorry, all of the godliness that could be inside of you is makifa me roshime'er adragla

Mevaseret Chazim You are being contained in an immersive way by God Himself. Let me just finish the point and then I'll get to you Zach. Masha hasecha masig v'tofes, omakyeh pessifchlo, masha epshelolitos, uleh hasig miyediyasatorah. When does this happen? When the mind understands that which it's capable of understanding? Rebbeos, are you obligated to do more than you're capable of doing? So if your level The devil of intelligence is eks and you've fulfilled up to that quota, so to speak so

then you're having that immersive experience. Aye, the genius next to you is having, knows more. True, but his experience is not more immersive than yours. Does that make sense? The idea is that your mind to the fullest extent possible for itself contains the Word of God and then the Word of God contains your mind. One second. Kefi Sichlo Ve'kalki Adiyasov asa gosa'vos shatremishjus sotat'ora. As we've said before, this is each person according to his level, meaning my level and Jonathan's level, my level and Aaron's level are not the same level. So each one of us is obligated how much to learn Torah to the maximum extent that we can. Just like in any relationship, you're obligated according to the extent to do your best that you can. Okay, let's pause 10 seconds Zach, then Rafi. Zach? Correct, it's a completely immersive experience. Excellent. Rafi. Yeah, and that's true and that's why there's always a challenge of knowing yourself, but I would tell you this, very often you have guys in Yeshiva that say, this is as much as I could do. You meet them 10 years later, they've successfully gone through college, master's

I think I may have told you guys this way, a guy in Yeshiva that could not wake up in the morning. Could not wake up. In the winter you will see that the Gova Alagova stairs get quite cold. They get quite cold in the chilled winter mornings. So this guy's mother, she said to me, Rav Burg, I need you to make sure my son wakes up in the morning. I don't care what you have to do to him. I asked her for permission before I did this. She gave me full permission. Just in case you think this is abuse, which it is, but you should know I had permission for this abuse. This young man would sleep clothed but barely. You know this sounds like clothed but barely. So every morning Yavbaayit and I would come into his dorm, 7.30 in the morning, I would pick him up by his feet, Abbaayit would pick him up by his arms, and we would walk him and he was fast asleep.

We would walk him out to the landing. No, pick him up. This is like a reaper and then? A reaper and then. And he was... Was someone picking you up? Yes, and he was fast asleep. We would put him down on the freezing cold Allah Gova platform. All he's wearing is his... his boxers, his skivvies, whatever you want to call them, right? His... yeah, his gachkas if you're from, right? And we would watch him, it was great. We would watch him curl up into a fetal position. And like, he was like... And then he would wake up from shivering. He would wake up from shivering. Fast forward. Fast forward. This guy has gone through medical school. He is a doctor. Yeah? And an amazing thing about him. He woke up for class without having to have Mordechai Burg and his avbayit bring him onto the stairs of allah Gola. Back in the day it was Avi Goldberg. Right?

So what happened? What changed? Rafi? Anyone who tells you there's a ceiling, they're probably right. And your job is to go past their ceiling, right? So don't let anyone tell you that's enough, because in your life you're going to be capable of doing massive amounts of things. It's just a question of whether or not you feel the urgency to do it, right? So when Yisrael steiner, just as an example, and he's here in Yeshiva sometimes to one, two o'clock in the morning, and the next day he wakes up for shakras, And he's in the gym and he's a huge tammukhachim. How does he do that? How does the Rosh, do you know the Rosh? I don't know if you guys know this. The Rosh had 11 months of shiva for his father and the day that he was supposed to finish Kaddish, 11 months, his mother passed away. So he had 22 straight months of Kaddish. It's the worst possible case scenario. 22 straight months of Kaddish.

In all the time, with all of the avalas that he was going through, and can you imagine losing your mother and your father back to back one year after the next? The only shirim he missed were for shivah. And I'm telling you, I stand right next to that man, right? I sit next to him in the car every day. I sit in the office right next to him. We meet four or five times a day. I know exactly what's going on in his life. This is shivah ran without skipping a beat. Okay, I know they're the right thing all of a sudden become the most important things in your life, right? And there's a shift that goes on so I can tell you at your age I still had a hard time waking up for Shabbos. I'm not gonna lie, but Part of the growth is understanding don't accept when they tell you that's what you can do Like you're gonna push forward in your life if you're honest with yourself, okay To truly understand How are we supposed to be immersed if we don't really ever know when we're actually at that capability level?

Do you feel like you are immersed in your time? Do you feel like you are being immersed every time? It's not a question of whether or not you feel like you're immersed. You are. If your mind is totally focused, again you weren't here last year so it's hard, maybe not be hopping 100% But when your mind is totally locked in, you can't think of something else. It's not possible. That feeling of like working on a tisis and struggling over the tisis and like in the middle, like you can't continue to think about the tisis and then also think about the fact that the next thing. You can't do both of those things at once. You can, I could switch out. But that's the point. When you, in the moment you had to switch out because your mind was being contained. Rebbe Nachman

Ulfi Shabbi Adiyas HaTorah Why is this? Because when a person is learning Torah, HaTorah min lubeishes benevesh adam v'sechlo umukefes be tocham. Lachaiyim nichroez b'sheim Lachan umazanan ephash. Now, you should recall that last time we were speaking about Torah as maim. But remember, I told you guys that when we say Torah as maim, we mean something specific? Yeah? What did we mean, Rabozai? It goes from a very good. Flows from top to bottom. Now, another one of the words that we use for Torah is Lachan, bread, right? So I told you, we make fun of it a little bit. Terah Shabbat Tov

Torah What after you said it like that?

Shabbat Tovu Shabbos Shabbos Shabbos Okay, good. Hashem's natural like? Yeah, Ezra. Do you want to do my favorite pass me your yamah? It's okay, it's Reboseh. Let's not let this distract us. Let's not let this distract us.

It's just an ugly butterfly. Because maim does not sustain you the same way bread does. It's true that Mayim can quench your thirst, but water is not food. What's the difference between food and drink? It's not just a liquid. It's not just a liquid solid difference, right? Your body interacts differently with food Yeah, but the nutrients you need to survive are not water Water is tight? Yes You can survive longer if you have water you can survive longer But nobody is suggesting that you should only have water, right? Maim was the negative side of type. Meaning Maim is the negative side of type. It's also growth. Yeah, liable. So Torah is converted to... what's the significance of Torah being compared to the two basic things that you need for life? Okay, very good. One is humility, right? In other words, every time we see God's infinity we see his humility.

That's fundamental towards life because remember the attitude that especially that we have in Chassidus is what's trying to kill you guys? Your ego is trying to kill you. Your nefesh habahamas is trying to kill you. So the first thing is humility. What's the second thing? Intimacy. Those two things are at the core of all of Chassidus. Humility and intimacy. Humility within the realm meaning the more in touch with your infinity you are the greater Horsch HaCidus Defined Humility Pansi? Humility and Humboldt is in. Yeah. Joey? What is it ever about specifically? There's a chapter on this one you hazzer over with the shirim that I gave you. We did that already. It's one of the things you missed. It comes. It comes from how the chachma bina das impacts the chassidu brit tepes. We did it already. But bezre Hashem, you'll catch up to it.

Tovya

Yes. That humility to not just chase the money creates intimacy with your clients, it creates intimacy even with the product, right? And it's like what's the product? How is this contributing to the world? How am I making the world a better place today? Aaron? So we love, we love in this year comparing our relationship to Hashem with that. Why do we love doing that? Because the... Comparing our relationship with Hashem to comparing it to a relationship between a husband and wife. We love doing that for two reasons. Number one... Number one, marriage is the microcosm of the macrocosm of our relationship with Hashem. Two, I do it specifically because this is how you're going to learn. We do it back door, kilachayad. This is how you're going to learn to be good husbands.

You don't realize we're not just learning chassidus. You want to be a good husband, you want to be a good father? Make sure that you're always reframing whatever we learn in this year. How does it apply to a relationship? The knowledge helps. By the way, I can show you a voice note. I won't do it now because it would be embarrassing to him and I wouldn't do it in public. But I got a voice note this morning from an alumni, 2 minute and 44 second voice note. And he was asking me exactly this question, does knowledge of how intimacy works in our relationship with Hashem actually help you in your marriage? The answer is yes. But that was just a lead up to my question, which was, there's a fundamental difference between a relationship with a human being and a relationship with an infant. Meaning that... Wait, wait, wait, guys, watch this. This is going to be a very big mistake he's about to make. Yes? Yep. I'm going to make it for the sake of every single person. I appreciate it. Yeah.

Um, that the person, I know you didn't say, the person needs, the two people need each other while Hashem doesn't need us. We only need Hashem. Though, I know the reason, I think so far, that before, we need it. The only thing that we're, the only mission that we have from Hashem is to get back to equilibrium in the first place. He made one Yisrael mistake. You have to be very careful when you say this. If you say it in one direction, you're a kofer. If you say it in another direction, you're a kofer. So let's try to hit the sweet spot. Does God need you? Yes, He will not. No, not by the people. Someone created us. Abosai? Abosai? Abosai? Think, think, think. If I don't have a sandwich, if I don't eat for eight days, what's gonna happen to me? I'm gonna die. So do I need to die?

So do I need the sandwich? Wait, think. Do I need the sandwich? Absolutely I need the sandwich because without the sandwich my existence will be diminished. One second. So from that perspective does God need you? Is his existence you? Are you the sandwich to God? No, God doesn't need a sandwich. God, right, we need God, but he doesn't need us. That's one side of it. So if you say God needs you, that's wrong. His existence is fine without you. The problem is, if you say that to yourself enough times, you're going to start to think the following, which is a big mistake. Well, God doesn't need me, why am I doing this anyway? Right? So it's like this. This is the muscle that we give. Very difficult to understand, so bear with me. Make sure everyone gets this. Let's say... who should I pick on?

Bensi. Okay? Let's say Bensi's mother... No, don't worry. I realize how bad that sounded just now, okay? Let's say Bensi's mother says to him, Bensi, every single day at 4 o'clock I want you to bring me a coffee. Bensi says, okay, I can bring you a coffee. His mom says, no, no, no. I need you to be a real brisker about this, okay?

With a Lid with the coffee and fulfills the mitzvah every single day. Now, one day, twenty years later into the future, twenty years later, Ben Siyyas were bringing the coffee every single day, twenty years exactly as his mother wants, two pinespins of sugar with a lid. One day, his alarm doesn't go off. He misses the 3.55 deadline. At four o'clock he realizes and he says to himself as the true chassid that he is, it's better to daven late than not daven at all. So he goes into the kitchen, makes the coffee, gets the beans, grinds the beans, puts in the cream, puts in the sugar, and at 4.08 he knocks on his mother's door. And he doesn't wait for his mother to say enter because he knows he's late. He opens up the door and there, Bensi finds his sister. There Bensi finds his sister in the room with his mother.

And you're not going to believe what he sees. He sees his sister dutifully bringing his mother a tea. And he realizes in that moment, because he's quite smart, Betsy, he realizes in that moment that in all the years that he's brought his mother to the coffee, he's never actually seen her drinking. And he realizes, wait a second, have I been bringing the coffee every single day at 4 o'clock sharp, turning around and leaving, and my mother spills out the coffee, and my sister brings her the tea every single day for 20 years? And he confronts his mother, respectfully, of course, he confronts his mother and he says, Do you not drink the coffee? And she looks at him and she says, I don't need the coffee. I'm just giving you the opportunity to serve me. Pause. How do you think Bensi feels in that moment? Yeah?

Very frustrated. For 20 years. 355. I'm out, right? That's the done. Right? No human being would ever do that. That would be nasty. That would be cruel. Right? Rosh Hashem Hashem Japhech Yisrael Eretz Tanya God does not need you on any level in terms of His existence. His existence is fine. Whether you dov'n or not, God is fine. Right? There's only one thing that God can't do. He can't

serve Himself. Very good. Excellent, though. God cannot serve Himself. So what is the one One thing, because he's himself, there's no other. You can't make another him by definition. You are the other him, right? God can't create a perfect being because by a definition a perfect being is not created. Do I need to tell the Rosh Hashir to calm down? As if nothing just happened, we continue the recording. Now, it was not on the recording. I paused the recording. One second, on both sides. Stay with me. So now, think about it like this. Wait. Wait. We are not necessarily be served. He does not need to be served in the sense that without you he is diminished. Here's the line if you can get it, it's huge. It is essentially him. Most people miss that. God's essence. We are an expression of God's essence. Mevaseret Chazim
