This week's question is, what are the proper emotions and thoughts to have after Yom Kippur? I'm feeling really nervous knowing that everything from my whole year has been determined. Is it wrong to feel this way? Also, how should the idea that everything has been decided already influenced my day-to-day davening? This is an excellent question. The rush explains that after Yom Kippur a person has to feel confident that they've been forgiven. As the Pasuch in Cohele says, Beyedaz L'ech echol besimcholach mecha B'shasah belev tovyei necha Ki rotzah Hashem es avo necha Go eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a glad heart, for God has already approved your deed. Hakadosh Baruch Hu wants to forgive us we have to feel confident that Hakadosh Baruch Hu has forgiven us An Yom Kippur the reason that we can come to Hakadosh Baruch Hu and proclaim all of the averos That we've done throughout the entire year is because we know that Hakadosh Baruch Hu wants To forgive us a failure to be confident that we have been forgiven is a failure to understand That Hakadosh Baruch Hu is our father of course we understand that we are not worthy of forgiveness But a Father Forgives His Child Nevertheless Having said that, the feeling of confidence that we have allows us to enter into Sukkos and to really truly experience V'sammaht b'chagachah.
And yet, I see in your question that you're nervous, everything in your entire year has been determined. I don't like to tell people what types of feelings they should or shouldn't have. I think all feelings are welcome and all feelings tell us things that are going on inside of of Ourselves? But from a Hashemic standpoint, what value is nervousness about the future? The future has already been determined. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. So what use is the feeling of anxiety? Perhaps the feeling of anxiety you might characterize as one where you are concerned that Hakadosh Baruch Hu is going to send you something that you can't handle. But this of course is not true. Hakadosh Baruch Hu only sends us things that We Can Handle? So of what use is it to be nervous? And in your last question you write, how should the idea that everything has been decided already influenced my day to day davening? A person who's confident that they've been forgiven, a person who's confident that Hakadosh Baruch Hu will only give them things that they can handle. Davens for one thing and one thing only. The knowledge of what Hakadosh Baruch Hu wants from us and the capacity to fulfill

Hakadosh Baruch Hu's Mission So when we Daven, we don't Daven from a place of anxiety, of if I don't Daven hard then Hakadosh Baruch Hu won't give me exactly what I'm supposed to get. Adirabah, our Davening comes from a place where we're confident that Hakadosh Baruch Hu is a loving Father who will give us exactly what we need. And so Tadaven means to look inside, that's why the word L'Hithpah Lel is reflective. It's an imagination that occurs inside of us. So we're asking from within, Hakadosh Baruch Hu, what I am here for in this world is to serve you. But I don't necessarily know how to serve you. Of course, 613 mitzvos in the Torah, of course, Chassid, of course, Siddaka, of course, all of that. But for our unique mission on a day-to-day basis, even from Shacharz to Minch and from Minchir Mairv and from Mairv back again to Shacharz, what do you want from me?
That's the first davening that we have to have. What does Hakadosh Baruch Hu want from us? This way we justify our existence? We are here to serve and then we ask Hakadosh Baruch Hu to fill us up with the strength and the capacity to serve him because when opportunities come to serve Hakadosh Baruch Hu we have to draw deep from our courage often from a place of vulnerability to ask Hakadosh Baruch Hu please give us the opportunity to serve you the strength to fulfill your mission. So to sum up we're absolutely covenant that god has forgiven us. We're absolutely confident We can be confident that everything that comes our way is something that we can handle. And we daven to have the strength in order to be able to know His will and to fulfill it.
